Load Deflection Calculator

When choosing the best series of profile and the necessary cross section for your purposes, it is vital to understand how the aluminium profiles will behave under load. We have now added a Load Deflection Calculator tab to each profile's product page. This is an example of Load Deflection tab on the product page:

This takes the Momentum of Inertia values specific to the profile (both x and y axis, i.e. the deflection will be dependent on what plane you bend the profile), and the Elastic Modulus for aluminium, and applies it to the given load (in Newtons) and the length of the profile.

Three results are provided depending how the profile is clamped/restrained:

  • One end clamped and the force applied at the opposite end.
  • Both ends supported without clamping and the force applied in the centre.
  • Both ends clamped and the force applied in the centre.
